Project Lifecycle Print E-mail
Wednesday, 21 July 2004

Our approach to project development at the GraphicWeb is a clearly defined series of steps. The successful completion of each step is critical to the ones that follow.

A good analogy would be the construction of a building. It stands to reason that one does not start at the top floor and work down, rather one starts with completed plans and a solid foundation, then bulds up from there. The sequence of events in a project's life cycle follows a similar logical order. The scope and requirements of the project are carefully defined with the customer and from there estimates and a design are created before any coding begins.

This is very important, as the more refined the plan, the less likely the chance of problems once the project is underway. A complete plan is the foundation of the project. Our development methodology includes the following project phases:

  • Proof of Concept: Recognizing there is a problem or need
  • Requirements Definition: Defining the problem
  • Checkpoint review: Go/No Go Decision
  • Architecture: Planning the Construction
  • Staged Construction: Building the software
  • Implementation/Release: Presenting the finished product

You will note that there is no mention of testing and or quality assurance. Our approach incorporates this into each stage of the entire project, not as a single stage to be performed at a given time. This ensures that quality is built into the solution from beginning to end.
